Prior to this, I certainly found the events of that day mind numbingly reprehensible and horrible beyond imagination - and who didn't? It's still almost beyond comprehension that something so terrible actually happened, but of course happen it did. But I live in Los Angeles and this was New York and I had always felt a little detached from the whole thing. Until this day. Until I was actually standing there and seeing things for myself. And spending some time with Pat. Obviously the events of 9/11 had had a profound impact on Pat and now, suddenly, seven years later, they were having a profound impact on me as well. Suddenly it was personal. Suddenly it was real.
